Vendiya Kuzambhu


Ingredients:

oil - 1 spoon
mustard - 1 spoon
Urad dhaal - 1 spoon
Channa dhaal - 1 spoon
Dhaniya - 1/2 spoon
curry leaves - a bunch
red chillies - 4 to 5
Hing - 1/4 spoon
sambhar powder - 1 to 1.5 spoon
turmeric powder - 1/4 spoon
salt to taste



Method :

1. Heat some oil, add mustard, urad dhaal, Channa dhaal, dhaniya, curry leaves, red chilly and hing fry for 1-2 minutes
2. Optional : can add brinjal / ladies finger & fry for 2 minutes
3.Add tamarind water, turmeric powder, salt, sambhar powder and allow it to boil for 10 minutes or till raw smell goes off then turn off the stove.
4. Add sesame oil to the kuzambhu and serve hot.

More Kuzambhu


Ingredients:

Curd - 1 cup
Toor daal - 1 spoon
coconut shredded - 2 to 3 table spoon
ginger - grated 1 spoon
green chilly - 4 to 5
whole pepper - 1/2 spoon
jeera - 1 spoon
rice flour - 1/2 spoon
Brinjal - 1
ladies finger - 1


Method:


1. Soak toor daal in water for 2 hours
2. Grind coconut, soaked toor daal, ginger, green chilly, pepper , jeera, rice flour and make a paste
3. Now prepare butter milk from curd, put turmeric powder a pinch, salt and keep a side
4.Mix the paste into butter milk mixture well
5.In mean while, take a sauce pan, pour 1 table spoon of oil , fry brinjal and ladies finger when it is done well put the butter milk mixture and boil for 5 to 7 minutes. When first boil comes out turnoff the stove.

6. Season with 1 spoon of coconut oil, mustard and curry leaves.

Veppam Poo Rasam



Ingredients :



Ghee - 1 spoon
Mustard - a pinch
Jeera - 1 spoon
Veppam poo - 1 spoon
Curry leaves - a bunch
Rasam powder - 1 spoon
Tomato - 1
Hing - a pinch
Tamarind juice - 1 to 1.5 cup
Turmeric powder - ¼ spoon
Salt to taste



Method :



1.Take a Sauce Pan, put ghee , mustard and jeera when it starts splutters
2. Add veppam poo, curry leaves, Rasam powder, tomato and hing fry for 2 minutes
3.Add tamarind juice to that, turmeric powder , salt and pepper powder boil for 5 to 7 minutes & turn off the stove.

Veppam poo (alias) dried neem flower, can be available in ayurvedic shops, some of the departmental stores .
